Popular US rock band Goose have parted ways with multi-instrumentalist Jeff Arevalo.

In a cryptic statement posted to social media, Peter Anspach, Cotter Ellis, Rick Mitarotonda and Trevor Weekz addressed Arevalo’s departure, writing: ‘We have been made aware of behaviour in Jeff’s personal life that does not align with the band’s core values. As a result, Jeff will no longer be a part of the Goose organisation.’

The So Ready musicians described the matter as ‘incredibly unfortunate’ and ‘unexpected’ but did not go into detail about Arevalo’s behaviour.

‘It is clear that this is the only way forward as we remain committed to upholding the values that define our community,’ they continued, ‘particularly when it comes to respecting others and creating a safe environment.’

Arevalo then issued a statement of his own saying he had taken a ‘mental health break’ from the band to seek treatment amid a ‘personal crisis’ in January, but the temporary absence later became a permanent exit from the group.

In his lengthy statement, he wrote in part: ‘I chose to take a mental health break and pursued a program in the great state of Washington. I studied emotional issues, spoke with many counselors, and worked in a group therapy setting with an open heart and mind.

‘I journaled daily, wrote poetry, and played music with my roommate. The idea of a new and limitless future became much more enticing to me than returning to “the organization”.’

Arevalo added in an Instagram post: ‘Upon leaving the program, rather than hearing from my former bandmates, I had received an email from the band’s lawyer stating that I was being let go for “reported behaviour and actions”.’

‘I have had plenty of time to reflect upon my actions, relationships, and values and I agree that we should go our separate ways,’ he continued, adding that he was not ‘rightly respected [or] values’ in his post.

Arevalo – who joined the band in 2020 – also said he was ‘extremely grateful’ for the opportunities he was afforded by fans during his tenure.

‘This moment also unfortunately marks the end of Orebolo,’ he concluded, referring to the spin off band with fellow Goose members.

‘However, I’ll be holding tryouts for two new guitar players at a future date. I’ll bring the bass.’

The US jam band formed in Conneticut in 2014, and are set to release their fourth studio album Everything Must Go on April 25, 2025, via No Coincidence Records.

This will be their first release since 2022’s Dripfield, which earned them number 2 on Billboard’s Top New Artist Albums chart.

They have appeared and performed on a number of high profile US shows including Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and CBS Saturday Morning.
