NCC Weekend Bikedays will have a slightly adjusted schedule this year due to ongoing construction projects and to address feedback from communities and users, the National Capital Commission announced this week.

The Kichi Zībī Mīkan, the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway and a section of the Queen Elizabeth Driveway will be reserved for active use from May 10 until Oct. 13, the NCC announced on its website on March 11.

Bikedays will be on Saturdays, Sundays and holiday Mondays, at the following locations and times: on the Queen Elizabeth Driveway from Somerset Street to Fifth Avenue between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.; on the Kichi Zībī Mīkan between 8 a.m. and 12 noon; and on the Sir George-Étienne Cartier Parkway between St-Joseph and the Aviation Parkway from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Last year, users had access to the Kichi Zībī Mīkan from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The March 11 release also said the NCC Summer Zone pilot project would build on last year’s success.

“Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a vibrant waterfront experience at Dow’s Lake, including a new recreational dock,” it read. “Additional seating will also be available along the Rideau Canal, giving the public more places to relax and enjoy the view.
