French actor Gerard Depardieu on Monday went on trial at a Paris court on charges of sexually assaulting two women during a film shoot in 2021. Depardieu, 76, sat on a seat opposite the judge while the two plaintiffs were also present in the courtroom. He has faced a string of assault and rape allegations but this is the first such case to come to trial.
