A pack of ‘speedy’ grass seeds is attracting Amazon shoppers thanks to its affordable price and impressive ability to rejuvenate dead patches of grass. The Pronto Seeds Premium Grass Seed is currently available for £14.49 at Amazon, or £13.99 at OnBuy.

Germinating between seven and 14 days after planting, a 1.4KG pack is capable of covering up to 84 square metres of grass. Give it some time to grow and you’ll start seeing fresh grass sprout up.

According to the product description, these seeds have been ‘specifically engineered for the UK climate’, which we can only assume means it’s designed to withstand the usual heavy wind and rain with occasional sunlight we normally get on this island. Whatever the weather, the Pronto Seed should be capable of delivering a dense, luxurious lawn.

The seed pack has 4.3 stars from 21,369 reviews. One person said: “Having a dog comes with dead grass patches unfortunately. A quick rake, and a sprinkling of grass seed quickly fixes the issue. I cover the seed with compost, compress it down and water it.

“The rest is a waiting game, but worth the wait. They germinate fairly quickly, and are very effective once they start growing. They have a healthy green colour to them, and soon grow to a healthy size.”

Another wrote “I needed to overseed as my lawn was infected and birds kept digging. So I applied Nematodes to treat it and the birds stopped coming. I guess the Nematodes were doing their job. I then purchased these grass seeds to scatter over the patchy areas (I literally just scattered them and watered for them to make contact with the soil, nothing else, no top soil or anything).

“I didn’t want birds eating the seeds so I used reflector tape and it has worked wonders in keeping the birds away. I’ve been turning the sprinkler on for 10 minutes a day and the grass is growing! I’m so happy. It’s only been 11 days so far so I’m pleased and also zero signs of birds which is a bonus!”

“Lovely green sprouts appearing,” a third said, “and I do think these grass seeds will make a wonderful lawn.” Of the negative reviews, one person said “Read the box done some research but this product wasnt good. Started to germinate way after the stated time. Watered regularly but the grass remained very small and light green. It wasnt effective on my lawn and the root died pretty quickly.”

Alternatively, you can try the Gro Sure Fast Acting Lawn Seed, which cost £5 at Tesco. Elsewhere there’s the Miracle-Gro Patch Magic Grass Seed, Feed & Coir for £14 at Argos.
